Resin bathroom: what is it

Resin is undoubtedly a great material to use in bathrooms. It is resistant to heat and moisture, making it great for the environment created by a hot shower.

It does not expand or contract as is the case with other materials-some sealants, for example, which can cause shower tiles to crack over time.

Resin also has antibacterial properties, given that mold is less likely to settle and surfaces are, therefore, easier to clean.

Material Technical Specifications

Among the most commonly used types of resins we find two categories that differ from each other in technical specifications:

  1. Epoxy resins;

  2. Polyurethane resins;

Epoxy resins are similar to paints while polyurethan resins are used when there is a need to create thicker layers.

Resin is a versatile material that, in some cases, can be applied even without removing bathroom tiles.

The high strength of resin is one of the advantages the material offers its users. In fact, in addition to withstanding moisture well, resin also reacts well to stains and bumps. As a result, it is does not easily get dirty.

This allows resin to maintain its appearance for a long time and also facilitates its maintenance, as its cleaning does not require long hours of work. Resin is also not at risk of being damaged by aggression, greatly increasing its durability!

Nevertheless, it is important to apply it correctly for a flawless and long-lasting result.

Therefore, it is essential to avoid air bubbles during its installation and to apply a protective varnish if you intend to use it to cover your bathtub. This will ensure its resistance to moisture, water and other aggressions.

Resin is also available in many finishes. You can, therefore, choose the model that best suits your wishes and needs. It is easily integrated into the decoration theme of any bathroom, which allows you to have a perfect room for many years.

Due to its many inherent qualities, resin is a material particularly suitable for use in the bathroom. With its water-repellent and thermoformable qualities, it adapts perfectly to any requirement.

A true source of creativity, resin can be endlessly molded to create a washbasin with distinctive volumes or a tub with an original shape, like a wave, for example, or a washbasin designed like a drape.

Resin also allows the installation of LED spotlights for a colorful atmosphere, as well as relief panels to decorate your bathroom.

It is available in a wide range of colors and can be sublimated by inlay or pattern design, leaving no half measures to the imagination.

Resin Bathroom Cladding: Advantages

In addition to design, there are at least 3 advantages associated with the use of resin in bathroom construction. In fact, this material is:

  1. Hygienic: resin is not porous and is therefore naturally hygienic, the joints are invisible, so dirt or bacteria cannot lurk there.

  2. Durable: it is resistant to wear, impact, stains and UV rays.

  3. Water-repellent: it does not react to moisture and does not allow condensation to form.

How Long Does a Resin Bathroom Last

Resin is water-repellent by nature. To clean it, simply use a damp cloth and a mild detergent, applied in circular motions.

For difficult stains, a mildly abrasive cream can be used. Then rinse and dry thoroughly.

Since it is a solid and homogeneous material throughout, most damage is usually repairable, possibly even with some light sanding.

But how long does a resin bath last? The answer to this question is somewhat surprising: a resin bath, in fact, can last more than 30 years, since it is an impact and abrasion resistant material.

How much does it cost to do a Resin Bathroom?

Opting for resin to renovate bathroom floors or walls means being able to access an endless variety of aesthetic solutions, ensure good thermal and acoustic insulation, and guarantee ease of maintenance.

But how much does a resin bathroom cost?

The price of a resin bathroom floor varies between 30€ and over 200€ per square meter. There are different solutions of realization. Resin, in fact, can be used liquid, that is, poured or injected directly onto the surface, or solid, that is, in rolls.

There are, in particular, two types of resin: polyurethane or epoxy.

Depending on the floor (or wall) to be coated, casting is preceded by a leveling operation: the surfaces are, therefore, smoothed, before a double layer of resin is applied.

As for the possibilities of use, resin can be used on a large number of surfaces: tiles, wood, concrete, metal... The first layer dries in about 6 hours. The second one, on the other hand, is allowed to cure for a week. Then, fixtures and fittings can be installed.

The creation of an entire bathroom takes, in all, about ten days: the total cost is related to the quality of the selected products and the aesthetic needs of customers.

In general, the rule applies, the larger the area, the lower the cost. Of course, to the final price should be added the cost of sanitary ware, which depends, in this case, on the selected design.

Bathroom Walls: Enamel or Resin?

When you dive into renovating bathroom walls, you can opt between two solutions that will guarantee a truly designer effect: enamel and resin.

Resin is a fashionable decorative coating. Applied on bathroom walls, it offers many advantages. First of all, there is the aesthetic aspect: wide choice of colors and effects, smooth appearance, absence of joints.

In addition, resin is a solid and easy-to-maintain coating that resists water well. This is why it is often found in industrial buildings, schools, and hospitals.

The relatively high price, compared to enamels, is justified by its durability. Enamels are also, a solution for renovating walls, but they do not have the same qualities.

Varnish is a two-component paint, that is, composed of a base and a hardener. In terms of aesthetic appearance, it is very similar to a resin.

Enamel has a longer processing time than resin and is more liquid, in terms of consistency. Therefore, it is easier to apply than resin, but less durable and, consequently, less long-lasting. Enamel is also less expensive than resin, both in terms of material and labor.

Resin can be applied to a large number of surfaces. Thus, it can be used to coat walls, ceilings, tiles, bathtubs, or even countertops made of wood, metal, plastic, or composite materials.

For a long time, epoxy was the prerogative of industrial and public buildings (factories, schools, nursing homes, hospitals...). Today, private individuals have adopted it as well, mainly due to the use of industrial style.

Resin bathroom coatings: the choice of colors

When choosing colors, using resin, you are spoiled with the amount of choice you have. But what are the trendy colors if you want to paint bathroom wall tiles?

Let's start from the beginning: if the intention is to style the water play, the palette of trendy colors is wide. We have fun with more unexpected shades: the taupe resin bathroom gives a certain personality in the room and creates a unique spirit.

Depending on desires and continuity with the rest of the house, the atmosphere can be soft, contemporary, authentic or even zen.

Chosen wisely, beige is, however, flattering and full of character. The beige resin bathroom, in fact, exudes well-being, promoting calm and relaxation. Try it to believe it!
